The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning until 9 a.m. today for the Indiana counties of Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, DeKalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, LaPorte, LaGrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley.
Temperatures will fall well below freezing this morning. A cold Canadian high pressure system is moving into northeast Indiana overnight, resulting in clear, calm and cold conditions. Low temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s with locally colder spots in the mid-20s. Widespread frost is also expected. Winds will be light and skies will clear.
Damage to unprotected vegetation is likely. Fruit trees and orchards are particularly vulnerable to freezing temperatures.
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and sensitive vegetation.
