Ex-Irish linebacker to play for Kansas

Former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis is bringing another of his former Irish players to Kansas.

Kansas announced on its athletic website Friday that linebacker Anthony McDonald will transfer from Notre Dame after he graduates in May and will finish his college football career with the Jayhawks.

McDonald was a high school teammate of former Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Crist transferred to Kansas in the winter after deciding to leave Notre Dame.

Crist and McDonald are eligible to play this season because they both earned their degrees at the school they signed with out of high school.

McDonald played in 28 games for Notre Dame, recording 24 tackles. His Irish career was plagued with injuries and he appeared in four games last season.

Former Notre Dame tight end Mike Ragone, who was granted a sixth year of eligibility, will also be a member of Weis' first team at Kansas, according to reports.
