IPFW official is named Valdosta university president

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The state Board of Regents has appointed a new president at Valdosta State University.

William McKinney will take the helm of the South Georgia university July 1. He is the vice chancellor for academic affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne.

He replaces Patrick Schloss, who left the university last year.

McKinney also served as the dean of the College of Humanities at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania from 2001-2008. He was chosen from a national search.
