A standoff Sunday evening in Huntington ended peacefully when police took the armed man into custody, according to a Huntington Police Department report.

Police were called about 9:15 p.m. to a domestic dispute in Memorial Park and found a 42-year-old man in possession of a shotgun inside a vehicle in the 800 block of Bartlett Street, the report said.

The man refused to drop the weapon and police began negotiations with him, the report said, and he was taken into custody about an hour later. He was taken to Huntington Parkview Hospital for evaluation.

The case will be forwarded to the Huntington County Prosecutor's Office, the report said.
