CHICAGO – I’m at my home away from home, O’Hare Airport, and pondering some questions as I head to Independence, Mo., for Game 3 of the Turner Conference finals.
The Komets trail the Missouri Mavericks 2-0.
- Will coach Al Sims make a change in net? Of course, I wouldn’t. Nick Boucher is the Komets’ MVP and always plays better when mad. After a few days to stew about his poor Game 2 performance, and getting yanked, I guess he bounces back fine Wednesday. But Sims has a history of thinking outside the box in the playoffs with his goaltending. Remember, he went to Tim Haun in the middle of the 2010 IHL finals and went to Kevin Reiter against Rapid City last year. Plus, Gerry Festa played with Missouri this season and knows those shooters. Had he looked better Saturday, I would say Festa would be a good bet to start. But I think it will be Boucher and should be.
- Should the lines be changed? As well as the Colin Chaulk line and the Redrum line have played, the Komets need to get Bobby Chaumont and Brett Smith going.
- Will Tom Mele get more playing time? He deserves it.
