Threat prompts searches at Milford school

Everyone arriving at the Milford School this morning was checked by officers after a threat was found scrawled on a bathroom stall door Monday afternoon.

The building at 611 W. Emeline St. was searched before students arrived, Milford Town Marshal Rich Miotto said in a statement.

The statement said the Milford Police Department was assisted by officers from Syracuse, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police in searching for suspicious items.

Nothing suspicious was found, the statement said.

The Wawasee School Corporation had several administrators on hand during the searches and inspections, and the town marshal said the district had sent out an electronic communication last evening to Milford parents advising them about a possible threat.

The threat remains under investigation. The nature of the threat was not immediately available.

The school has students in kindergarten through eighth grade, according to its website.
