Ice Chips

  • Priming Game 3
The Reading Royals are the defending champions of the ECHL, and it would be naïve of the Komets to think it would be easy to unseat them.
  • Clarke is K's Mr. Steady
The Komets rely on their veterans to temper the enthusiasm of the highs and get through the frustration of the lows. And no one in the locker room is more even keel than Aaron Clarke, a 31-year-old forward.
  • Royals bolstered
The Reading Royals' lineup was bolstered today, as Dustin Gazley was sent down by Hershey of the American Hockey League. He had eight goals and 15 points in 42 games with Hershey.

K's must score early to break trend

  • I had a pretty neat experience Tuesday night. As most of you know, I'm from the Detroit area. The Tigers were in Kansas City, playing the Royals, so I took in a game at Kauffman Stadium. What a beautiful ballpark. Attendance was announced at only 13,851, which was quite generous.

  • Nothing to do with hockey, but, wow, Dwayne Schintzius died? That's sad. Aside from that awesome hair, does anyone remember the movie, "Eddie?" He was Ivan. "Ivan make basket!"
  • OK, who's the key player for the Komets tonight? I'm going with Frankie DeAngelis. Have you ever noticed he comes up big when the Komets are down? I have a feeling we will see a lot of special teams, and that's his time to shine.
