  • Bootland not coming to K's
You may have heard that Darryl Bootland has defected from the CHL's Allen Americans to join a team in the ECHL. It's not the Komets, according to general manager David Franke.
  • Szydlowski would like bigger role with K's
Shawn Szydlowski, who re-signed with the Komets today, said he hopes to have a top-line type of role this season.
  • AHL could be coming to town
There is a possibility the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters and Grand Rapids Griffins will play an exhibition game at Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 4.

Where's Chaumont been?

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- I know a big question has been: Where is Bobby Chaumont?

He led the Komets with 24 goals and 66 points in the regular season. In the playoffs, he's got two goals and five points in nine games, including a goal and an assist in the Turner Conference finals, which Fort Wayne trails 2-1 to the Missouri Mavericks.

While I'm on board with the idea of giving over some of his playing time to 10th-forward Tom Mele, I will say this for Chaumont: He is hitting a lot and making sure he contributes in other ways.

But the Komets could sure use some offense from him tonight. The Komets cannot rely on the third line to do all the scoring.
