Ohio’s gamble set to pay off
Ohios gain will be Indianas loss.
The Buckeye States first casino opens next month in Cleveland, followed by casinos in Columbus, Toledo and Cincinnati. The Cincinnati casino will doubtlessly draw visitors who now go to Indianas Ohio River casinos, and more than a few Hoosiers will spend their dollars in Toledo.
How badly will Indiana be hurt? The Indiana Casino Association reportedly predicted annual losses of up to $300 million, while state budget officials say the loss of gambling taxes could hit the state by as much as $100 million.
