Bennett takes media to task

Supertintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett took an (unnecessary?) swipe at the media Thursday who attended a ceremony awarding 28 school districts more than $6 million in grants to reward effective teachers.

Two Indianapolis TV stations and newspapers representing three major regions in the state -- The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne, the Indianapolis Star and the Northwest Indiana Times -- attended the Indy-based event.

But apparently that wasn't enough for Bennett, who said he wanted to challenge the media, and asked "how many people would be here if we were announcing something negative?"
