Stolen cars linked to gas-station robbery

Men dressed in black robbed a Silver Lake-area gas station early this morning, and that crime has been linked to two black cars stolen earlier in North Manchester.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded at 1:30 a.m. to the McClure Oil gas station, 9311 S. Indiana 15, Silver Lake. While they were on their way to the station, a sergeant found an unoccupied black 1997 Ford Mustang in the area of County Road 950 South and County Road 200 West.

Officers at the gas station quickly determined the Mustang was the getaway car.

Two men believed to be in their late 20s went into the business wearing black hooded sweatshirts with their faces covered, the statement said. They took cash from the register and cigarettes.

Detectives learned the Mustang had been stolen from a North Manchester car lot overnight, along with a black 1995 Chevy Camaro.

This morning, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department reported the stolen Camaro had been recovered in that county.

The North Manchester, Wabash County and Kosciusko County departments are working together, and members of the public who know anything about the thefts are encouraged to call any one of them with information.
