K's getting dominated

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- For the first straight game, the Missouri Mavericks scored first.

For the third straight game, Jean-Michel Rizk quickly answered for the Komets.

But this time, the Mavericks look different. They lead the Komets 3-1 after one period at the Independence Events Center.

With the exception of two fantastic saves, Fort Wayne goalie Nick Boucher doesn't look quite right to me. He's faced 16 shots. One goal came from John-Scott Dickson after Boucher's clear around the boards was intercepted. Dale Mahovsky scored, after he got behind the defense and took a pass from Sebastien Thinel, while the Mavericks were short-handed. And the third goal, from Brandon Smith, came after the puck caromed off the boards behind the net and he tucked it inside the right post.
