Aaron Lynch will join South Florida's football program when he leaves Notre Dame at the end of the semester. The Bulls announced the transfer on their athletic website.
The defensive end left the Irish program April 13, saying he wanted to continue his college career in his home state of Florida. He is finishing the spring semester at Notre Dame.
Lynch, who will have to sit out this season because of transfer rules, had 33 tackles, 5 1/2 sacks and 14 quarterback pressures in 12 games with Notre Dame last season. He earned freshman All-American honors.
"With Aaron originally being from Florida, we're very familiar with the kind of player he is," South Florida coach Skip Holtz said on the website. "Aaron had a great freshman season at Notre Dame, and we're excited to welcome him into the Bulls family."
