IPFW sets agreement with Jiangsu University

Statement issued Tuesday by IPFW:

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—At a meeting held yesterday in Zhenjiang, China, Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Chancellor Michael Wartell signed an agreement with Jiangsu University to develop a dual-degree collaboration in engineering between the two universities.

Leaders from Jiangsu University, led by President Yuan Shouqi, hosted a delegation from IPFW. The established agreement allows for a dual-degree program in civil engineering and resulted from a meeting last year where the two universities discussed programs to promote the advancement of higher education for students in their engineering disciplines.

“We are working hard to make sure we create strong partnerships with universities in Asia,” said Chancellor Wartell. “And we are looking forward to seeing those partnerships prosper and grow.”

Jiangsu University is one of the oldest universities in China at over 110 years old. With 42,000 full-time students Jiangsu has over 26 colleges and departments. The university is officially ranked in the top 100 of universities and their programs have been highly awarded by the Ministry of Technology in China.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for engineering students at Jiangsu University,” said Wartell. “Our two institutions will greatly benefit from the strength of both programs.”
