Ducklings take detour to storm drain

Susan Coe, an officer with Animal Care & Control, rescues a duckling from inside a storm drain near East State Boulevard and Eade Avenue. Eleven of 12 ducklings fell in the drain trying to cross the street to get to the St. Joseph River.
A mother and one duckling were in the El Azteca parking lot waiting for the other ducklings to be rescued from the storm drain. After about an hour, she headed to the St. Joseph River with her one duckling and was reunited with the 11 other ducklings.
