FORT WAYNE – After record-setting warm days in March, April's normal temperatures might seem downright chilly. The National Weather Service in northern Indiana said the average temperature for March 2012 in Fort Wayne, 52.6 degrees, was warmer than the normal average temperature for April, which is 50.0 degrees.
As of Monday, the average temperature for this April in the city, 51.8 degrees, is cooler than this March's final average.
If this trend holds, the month might be cooler than March, the weather service said on its website.
This has happened only once before since climate records have been kept in the 1890s. In 1907, the weather service said, Fort Wayne's average temperature was 44.6 degrees in March and 41.5 degrees in April.
