Woman dragged after theft of Jeep

Fort Wayne police are asking for the public’s help in finding three men involved in stealing a woman’s vehicle and then dragging her for a short distance when she tried to stop them.

The woman, 20, was at a gas station at 6031 Hessen Cassel Road on April 13 and went inside about 10:25 p.m., police said.

Two men got into her 2002 Jeep Liberty, which was running, and began to flee, police said.

The woman saw the men trying to leave in her vehicle, tried to reach into the vehicle and unlock it and was dragged alongside the vehicle as the men continued to flee.

The woman suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police said they believe three people were involved – the two men got into and fled in the Jeep and a third person who fled the area on foot. The vehicle has since been recovered and police said they are processing it for potential evidence.

Anyone with information about the men’s identity or whereabouts is asked to call Fort Wayne police or Crime-Stoppers at 436-7867.
