Student loan vote
The House is expected to vote today on a measure to stop the scheduled interest rate increase of federally subsidized student loans from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent.
While Democrats have fought to stop the rate increase, Republicans want to pay the $5.9 billion cost of holding rates steady by taking the money from a preventive health fund established in the health care law.
