A fire Friday afternoon heavily damaged a Park Avenue home, Fort Wayne firefighters said. No one was injured.
Firefighters were called to 1308 Park Ave. about 1:15 p.m. on a report of a house fire, and found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home, the Fort Wayne Fire Department said in a statement.
Crews found high heat and smoking coming from the kitchen and laundry room of the two-story home, the statement said.
It said the home's occupant told firefighters he had been outside and saw smoke coming from the rear of the home.
The fire caused heavy smoke and fire damage, and moderate water damage, the statement said. It was controlled within about 20 minutes, and remains under investigation.
