Irwin proves himself in all-star game

Whitko senior Logan Irwin accomplished a lot in his career. One thing, though, that got away was a spot on the Indiana team for the all-star basketball series against Kentucky.

So Irwin, a Stetson recruit, showed his worth in the two all-star games he did play in, the North-South game a couple of weeks ago, and Saturday's Nancy Rehm/Border Wars Classic at Saint Francis.

"The North-South game I wanted to prove something," he said. "(Border Wars) you want to play well and you want to win. North-South, we got killed (118-102 South win), so it didn't matter."

In Indiana's 99-81 win over Ohio on Saturday at Saint Francis, Irwin had nine points (on 3 of 3 three-point shooting), five rebounds and three assists.

Despite scoring 2,230 career points, 12th in state history, Irwin did not make the Indiana-Kentucky roster.

Irwin finished as Whitko's all-time leader in scoring, assists (424), free throws (641) and steals (198). In getting the scoring and assists titles, he surpassed Indiana All-Stars Steve Nicodemus (1991) and Jeff Peters (1984) respectively.
