Keys to the game

Fort Wayne had seven doubles in a 6-5 win against Peoria in front of 4,891 fans Saturday at Parkview Field.

Here are the highlights.

Double the fun: Duanel Jones had two doubles and scored twice. Austin Hedges, Jace Peterson, Alberth Martinez, Zach Kometani and Corey Adamson also doubled for Fort Wayne. The seven doubles are one shy of tying the team record, which was set May 31, 2008 against Dayton and matched on April 27 of last year against Lake County.

Bullpen work: The TinCaps did not allow a hit for the final five innings. Matt Stites struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth for his second save of the season. Stites has 13 strikeouts and has not allowed a walk in eight innings this year.

Injury update: Donavan Tate suffered a hamstring injury while running out a grounder in the first game. He left the game in the third inning and is likely headed to the disabled list, according to manager Jose Valentin. Valentin said Tate will stay with the team during the rehab instead of head to the team's minor league camp in Arizona.

Quotable:

"I definitely want to stay on the field and be on the field as much as possible. It's better to take care of it now instead of lingering around and causing me to miss more time."
