Komets jump out early

WICHITA, Kan. -- The Komets lead the Wichita Thunder 2-0 after one period in the opening game of the President's Cup finals.

Defenseman Jamie Milam opened the scoring at Intrust Bank Arena 10:15 into the game, after forward Bobby Chaumont's touch pass set him up alone on goalie Adam Russo.

Two shots later, Chaumont redirected a Brett Smith shot into the bottom of the net.

The Komets have outshot the Thunder 8-5.

By the way, David Starenky was scratched, in favor of Bryant Molle, so no Starenky vs. Erick Lizon fight tonight.
