Suit filed over motorcycle fatality

The father of a University of Saint Francis student killed in a motorcycle crash this spring has filed a lawsuit against the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash.

In documents filed Wednesday in Allen Superior Court, Jeffrey A. Walker is asking for compensatory damages in the death of his daughter, Breanna Walker.

Breanna Walker, 20, was a passenger on a motorcycle traveling on Illinois Road on March 14. The motorcycle collided with a Jeep driven by Mary C. Houser of Columbia City.

According to police, at the time of the crash the motorcycle was headed east when the Jeep turned left from the westbound lanes into the Meijer store parking lot.

Breanna Walker and the operator of the motorcycle were thrown from the bike and police believed neither was wearing a helmet.

The lawsuit also names Breanna Walker’s mother, who is divorced from Jeffrey A. Walker, as a defendant in an effort to sort out any interest she may have in the lawsuit, according to court documents.
