Eastbound U.S. 30 in Columbia City is expected to be closed until around 9 PM as crews remove debris from a crash involving three tractor-trailer rigs.
Eastbound U.S. 30 will be rerouted onto Lincolnway to Business 30 in Columbia City and then back to U.S. 30, officials said.
Two rigs were stopped at the light on U.S. 30 at Line Street about 4 p.m. Tuesday when the driver of a third rig didn’t see them and smashed into the rear of the one of the rigs, pushing it into the rear of the other rig, Columbia City police said.
The cab of the one of the rigs was destroyed and the driver was pinned inside. Police removed the driver in five minutes and he was taken to a hospital in good condition with a cut to the head, officials said.
