Some important news

If you think about it, the most important goal of the President's Cup finals so far might have come from Komets defenseman Daniel Maggio, who put the Komets up 2-1 in what became a 6-3 Fort Wayne victory in Game 2.

It really put the Komets in control of the series, which they lead 2-0 heading into Game 3 on Thursday at Memorial Coliseum.

I've got a whole feature on Maggio: Click here.

It turns out the rumors are true and Wichita goalie Adam Russo has a concussion. Click here. Am I the only one who thinks the Thunder may be better off with Bryan Hogan in net?

By the way, after this post, I heard from multiple people around the league who told me it's well known that Thunder coach Kevin McClelland doesn't break down film of the opposition. If this is the case -- and I don't know for sure if it is -- that sure seems like you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. I understand being more concerned with what your own team does, but that would explain why the Thunder has had no clue of the Komets' weaknesses.

This will be the first in many dominoes. Without Laredo, I don't see Rio Grande Valley sticking around. Dayton seems like it is dropping to Single-A hockey. I still am not confident that Bloomington will survive if Fort Wayne and Evansville are going to the ECHL. Arizona remains out on an island. If I were the ECHL, I would go for the jugular. But that's easier said than done.
