Creep factor

There is weird, and then there is weird and scary. This story is both.

The scary part is not that a registered sex offender posed for a photo with an Ohio State recruit. The scary part is that he's apparently posed with a whole bunch of Ohio State football players and posted the photos on Twitter -- which suggests he has a creepy obsession to go along with his already criminal obsession.

You know what's really scary, though?

It's the fact that Urban Meyer and his staff -- the entire Ohio State athletic apparatus, in fact -- probably can't do a lot more than they're already doing to protect their players from potential predators like this guy.

I understand the reaction of the kid in question's father, but, really, is it realistic to think Ohio State could run an instant background check on every fan who asks a player for an autograph and/or picture? How exactly would that work, theoretically?

Like I said: Scary.
