  • Postgame reaction, video from Komets 3-2 victory
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- I'm not going to say these have been the best three games I've seen the Komets play to start a season -- and I've covered 18 seasons -- but this has to be the most exciting season-opening set I've seen.
  • Komets beat Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In what had become a heated game, Shawn Szydlowski capped a 3-2 overtime victory for the Komets on Friday by stealing the puck in the Kalamazoo Wings zone and then sending a wrist shot past the goal with 49 seconds remaining.
  • Penalty shot foiled, K's tied at 2
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Komets and Kalamazoo Wings are tied at 2 after two periods at Wings Stadium.

Adam Russo stops a shot from Fort Wayne's Jamie Lovell in Game 2 of the Presidents' Cup finals.

Is this where Russo got hurt?

While many of us thought Wichita goalie Adam Russo suffered his concussion when the knee of Jean-Michel Rizk grazed him before a goal in Game 2 of the Presidents' Cup finals, I wonder if maybe it happened on this play.

A huge Jamie Lovell shot hit him in the mask seconds before Chris Auger scored.

Just a thought.

Russo won't play tonight, in Game 4 of the finals, when the Komets look to complete a sweep en route to the Cup.

By the way, I wish I had a dollar for every person who thought I could get them tickets today. Don't wait for the last minute when the Komets are on the cusp of winning a title, people.

Further, I just got this e-mail from the Komets ...

Colin Chaulk has moved into second on the list of Fort Wayne's all-time playoff scoring leaders, second only to Len Thornson. Chaulk has 100 points. Thornson had 127.

Chaulk is now only six assists away from tying Thornson's playoff record of 74 assists.
