Short-Row Felted Slipper Insoles
I'm still really happy with my first Short-Row Felted slipper pattern. The only problem is, the soft, lofty Bernat Felting Natural Wool I used isn't very durable. I walked right through my first pair that first winter! So, I made these insoles to pad the inside, and let me wear the slippers longer. If you like, you can sew them into the inside of the slipper, or you can just tuck them in and let them stay. I like just tucking them in. That way, if I need to wash them, the slippers will still dry before next winter.
I made these samples with my own handspun, held single, but I don't know how much or how I made the yarn, since I'm still in the "Oh my gosh, I'm spinning!" stage and have no real control over the result. So, your mileage may vary.
Before felting, my insoles were about 10" long and 3" wide at the heel. After felting, they didn't shrink very much, but they were more lofty and solid. You could use Bernat Felting Natural Wool or, really, any bulky yarn that will felt. If you have already made the slippers, you will probably need less than half as much yarn as you used originally.
