Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o's is one of 42 players named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list.
Te'o was a finalist for the award, which measures the personal character of the nation's top defensive player, last year.
He didn't win the award, which went to Boston College's Luke Kuechly, but he did deliver good news at the ceremony. Te'o announced his decision to return to Notre Dame for his final year at the banquet Dec. 11 in Newport Beach, Calif.
The senior linebacker won't have another announcement like that, but he does have a good chance to be back at the ceremony as he is among the 18 linebackers, 13 defensive backs and 11 defensive linemen on the watch list.
The trophy will be handed out Dec. 9.
