Adys Portillo continued his dominating 2012 season, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh.

He gave up one hit in seven innings as the TinCaps topped South Bend 5-2 in front of 6,774 fans Wednesday at Parkview Field.

Here are the highlights:

No no-no: Matt Helm doubled to center field with one out in the seventh inning for South Bend's first hit.

Key hit: Travis Whitmore singled to left in the fifth inning, knocking in two runs to give Fort Wayne a 5-0 lead.

Injury report: Outfielder Matt Gallic left the game after the third inning because of a hamstring injury.

More Portillo: Portillo struck out six and walked two in seven scoreless innings. Portillo lowered his ERA to 1.41 on the season.


"I just missed with a fastball up and he hit it really good," Portillo said. "… It's OK. It was a really good start for me and I'm happy because we won."
