Six Mastodon softball players were honored by The Summit League Wednesday at the 2012 championship banquet.
Ashleigh Bousquet, Larissa Franklin, and Miranda Kramer were each named to the first team, while Alex Bousquet, Brittany Kachur, and Courtney Cronin earned second team honors.
Ashleigh Bousquet, a sophomore third baseman from Mishawaka, led the Summit League in RBI with a school-record 58 in 54 games, while hitting .337. She hit eight home runs, while scoring 33 times and drawing 27 walks.
Franklin, a freshman outfielder from Maple Ridge, B.C., leads the team with a school-record 26 stolen bases, while hitting .361 from her leadoff spot. She has scored 41 times, second-highest total in program history, while setting the school record for total hits with 65.
Kramer, a freshman from Burlington, Iowa, leads the team with 131 strikeouts, including a school-record 14 in a seven-inning win over South Dakota in the season's final weekend. She has a 13-4 record, and a 1.90 ERA, second-lowest in the League.
Alex Bousquet, a sophomore shortstop from Mishawaka, set IPFW school records with 48 runs scored, 32 walks, and 21 times hit by pitch. She leads the team with a .368 batting average, and has driven in 46 runs, second most on the team, and second-highest total in the Summit League. She is slugging at a .599 percentage, and has an .527 on-base percentage.
Kachur, a sophomore outfielder from Abbotsford, B.C., batted .351 on the year with 20 runs scored. She had an on-base percentage of .410.
Cronin, a senior from North Delta, B.C., led the Summit League with a 1.22 ERA and an 18-2 overall record, to go with her four saves. She has 114 strikeouts this season in 144.0 innings of work, while adding five shutouts.
The Mastodons face off against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in a 5 p.m. showdown in the second game of the 2012 Summit League championships hosted by UMKC.
