Ender Inciarte knocked in Marc Bourgeois with a single in the ninth inning to lead South Bend to a 3-2 victory against the TinCaps in front of 5,066 fans Thursday at Parkview Field.

Shortstop Jace Peterson suffered a neck injury according to team officials after colliding with pitcher Colin Rea while both were going after a pop-up. Peterson dove to try to catch the ball and collided with Rea. Peterson was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.

Pitcher Joe Ross was a late scratch after having tightness in his shoulder.

Filling in: Rea pitched well as the emergency starter. He gave up one run on two hits in four innings. Robert Eisenbach also had a strong outing in the middle innings, giving up two runs on two hits in 4 2/3 innings. Clark Murphy had two hits after replacing Peterson in the lineup.
