Father, son deaths ruled homicide, suicide

FORT WAYNE – Wednesday's shooting deaths on Fort Wayne's near north side have been ruled a homicide and a suicide by the Allen County Coroner's Office.

Officers responding about 2:30 p.m. to a report of a suicide threat found one man dead and another severely wounded in a home near North Side High School, Fort Wayne police said.

Seventy-seven-year-old Glen R. Lantz died at the scene and his critically injured 53-year-old son, William D. Lantz, died late Wednesday night at a local hospital, according to statements issued Thursday by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the county coroner's office.

Glen Lantz's death has been ruled a homicide. The death of his son has been ruled a suicide.

Glen Lantz's wife of 55 years died in March, according to The Journal Gazette's archives.
