Fort Wayne shortstop Jace Peterson released a statement to the media Friday, one day after suffering a neck injury after a collision with pitcher Colin Rea in the first inning against South Bend.
"I'm feeling good. It was unfortunate that it happened. I'm thankful that it's nothing more serious than it is. I'm going to use this time to get fully healed and hopefully I can come back soon."
Peterson was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center for evaluation and later discharged on Thursday. Friday, the team placed him on the disabled list.
