I'm told the Bloomington Blaze may introduce its new coach Wednesday.
Komets assistant coach Gary Graham, who had applied for that job two straight years, did not get the post.
I'm told that the Blaze is hiring someone who coached last season in the CHL. That would seem to leave Serge Dube, who coached the now-defunct Laredo Bucks; Dwight Mullins, recently fired by the Allen Americans; and Brian Gratz, the Fort Wayne native and former Komets goalie, who coached the Dayton Gems the last two seasons.
Gratz declined to comment, saying only that he has applied for several jobs. He had a 55-58-19 record in two seasons with the cash-strapped Gems, including a playoff berth in 2011. The Gems are expected to fold or play in the Single-A Federal League next season.
