Did Northrop state hopes take hit?

It remains to be seen how much Demetra Taylor's false start and subsequent disqualification will effect Northrop's chances at another state title.

Because of the DQ at Tuesday's Northrop Sectional, Taylor won't be in the 300-meter hurdles for the rest of the postseason.

The Bruins won the sectional by 30 points, 135-105 over Carroll. And Northrop has enough talent and depth to win next week's regional, also at Northrop.

But come the state meet June 1 in Bloomington, those points (no matter how many they would be for Taylor, whose best event is the 100 hurdles) could be important. Taylor was going to finish in the top four at sectional to advance and then probably top three at the regional to move onto state.

Points are a valuable commodity at the state level, and that was evidenced last year with Northrop tied for the state championship and had to share the crown with Lawrence North.
