Verbatim: Mock biohazard drill set at post office

The U.S. Postal Service issued this news release today:

Fort Wayne, IN — Fort Wayne Fire and Police Departments, Fort Wayne/Allen County Department of Health, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, Fort Wayne Community School Corporation, Allen County Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Postal Service will be participating in a mock biohazard exercise at the Fort Wayne Post Office.

The exercise, set for Wednesday, May 23, 2012, will simulate steps that the various agencies would take if a biohazard emergency occurred during the processing of mail at the Post Office. The practice exercise will begin at 12 p.m.

Those in the area of the Fort Wayne Post Office (1501 South Clinton Street) should expect to see a number of emergency vehicles (fire trucks and police cars and other official vehicles) as well as hazardous materials’ decontamination units parked near the main postal facility, and in their east parking lot. No traffic delays are expected due to the practice drill.
