Ashley factory to add warehouse

K-CoPack LLC plans to invest almost $700,000 in an addition to its Ashley factory at 101 S. Parker Drive.

The 23,400 square feet of warehouse space will allow the company to store inventory, moving it out of the way of the 13 employees. Chris Petersen, general manager, said the lack of warehouse space has limited the company’s growth.

Plans call for hiring one or two workers this year and possibly up to four more next year, Petersen said in an interview Tuesday. Wages for the production positions will average $12 to $15 an hour.

K-CoPack mixes and bottles cleaning products for household and automotive use. The company’s unusual name is a nod to owner Wayne Klink’s last name, combined with a shortened version of “contract packaging,” the service the company provides.

The Ashley Town Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement on the project. The projected savings was not available.
