Crossroads Classic extended

The Crossroad Classic will continue to showcase four of the state's basketball programs for an additional two years.

Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick along with Butler AD Barry Collier, Indiana AD Fred Glass and Purdue AD Morgan Burke signed an addendum to the original Crossroads Classic contract Tuesday that will keep the series going through 2014.

Notre Dame fell to IU 69-58 in the first Classic last season, and Butler topped Purdue 67-65.

The original agreement was for two years with Notre Dame and Butler alternating playing IU and Purdue at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, which will remain the host site for the full term of the agreement.

Notre Dame will play Purdue at this year's Classic on Dec. 15. The other dates for the Crossroads are Dec. 14, 2013, and Dec. 20, 2014. Game times and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

"College fans were treated to a great day of basketball last year, and I am thrilled that all four schools have agreed to extend the contract for two more years," Swarbrick said in a news release. "Indianapolis and Bankers Life Fieldhouse proved to be ideal hosts, and we are fortunate to be able to partner with them once again. Notre Dame looks forward to building this into not only one of the premier college basketball events in the country but also into a platform for broader collaboration among four great universities."
