Thomas talks state competition

Now that Wayne sophomore Brionna Thomas has qualified for the state girls track meet June 1, she has her sights set on a couple of sisters from Pike.

Thomas finished second in the 200 and third in the 100 last year at the state meet, and Pike senior Morgan Yeadon finished one spot ahead of her in the both events.

Thomas has the top times in the state this season in both races, but Morgan Yeadon and her junior sister Chelsea Yeadon are right on her heels.

"I am just trying to go there and do better than I did last year (at state)," Thomas said after winning the 100 and 200 easily at the Northrop Regional on Tuesday. "I am trying to move up one or something and beat the sisters from Pike. That would be a big thing."
