Shooter's Comments:
These assignments are one of the many reasons I love being a photojournalist. They just feel good. But, they are also the most stressful assignments, since the reaction happens in an instant.
There is only one first moment when people see each other. All of the media, including me, positioned ourselves at the end of the room, next to Specialist Zehner.
This way, we thought we had an angle to include him and his kids. Of course, when Jared walked out, Zehner took off towards him, leaving us with only a view of his back.
We quickly scattered, looking for a better angle. I chose to go with the photo above because it is a quieter, more genuine moment between Zehner and his daughter.
