Crime, meet punishment

First, the jokes, after Game 5 of the NBA Eastern semifinals ....

I went to a Pacers-Heat game the other night, and Rangers-Devils broke out.

Hey, look! Udonis Haslem is puttin' on the foil!

Starting at forward for the Pacers in Game 6: Ogie Oglethorpe.

And last but not least ...

If Les Reaney played basketball, he'd be Dexter Pittman.

Which brings us to the penalty phase of Haslem's brutal, clearly retaliatory takedown of Tyler Hansbrough last night, and Pittman's assault on Lance Stephenson.

Unlike the CHL, the NBA actually acted, suspending both players for Game 6 and Pittman for two additional games. This is especially gratifying in Haslem's case, considering the on-court officials froze in the moment and failed to do their duty, which should have been ejecting Haslem immediately on a flagrant-2 foul.

So, justice prevails.

Well. Unless there's an executive council meeting three hours before gametime tomorrow and Haslem and Pittman are reinstated ....
