Revenge of the skinflints

Just crunching some numbers here at the Blob, and I stumbled onto the most fascinating thing: My Pittsburgh Pirates (aka The Farm Team To The Stars) and the Boston Red Sox (aka, one of the Stars to whom the Pirates have been the Farm Team on more than one occasion) have the exact same record, here on the cusp of June.

The Scarlet Hose are 24-24. The Buccaneers are 24-24.

Know what's significant about that?

Well, I looked it up. The Red Sox are 24-24 despite having the third highest payroll in baseball, $173,186,617. And the Pirates are 24-24 despite having the 26th highest payroll in baseball, $63,431,999.

So, hooray for skinflint-ery. For now, anyway.
