Paul Gonnella, the Director of Player Personnel for the Purdue football team, resigned Tuesday to take a similar position with the University of Alabama.
"Paul was our inaugural director of player personnel and did an outstanding job," Purdue coach Danny Hope said in a statement. "It says something when a program of Alabama's caliber comes after one of your staff members, and we wish Paul the best of luck.
"This position is a difference-maker for us, and I am going to take a few weeks as we finish our spring evaluations before determining a course of action, not only for filling the vacancy but also for strengthening our recruiting operations potential."
Hope said personnel and recruiting-related matters would be handled by himself, assistant head coach Gary Nord and graduate assistant Kevin Maurice.
