Woman accused of stealing $95K from school groups

PERRYSBURG, Ohio (AP) — A northwest Ohio woman accused of stealing more than $95,000 from two school parent groups and a baseball team has been charged with theft.

Court records show 35-year-old Kiki Lorann was charged with felony theft Tuesday in Perrysburg, near Toledo.

The Blade in Toledo reports Lorann was treasurer for the parent groups and the traveling baseball team. Police declined to further explain how the money was taken in recent months, citing the ongoing investigation.

Perrysburg Schools Superintendent Tom Hosler says the allegedly stolen funds amount to what he calls a "staggering loss" for the organizations. A group that fundraises for several elementary schools triggered the investigation by contacting police about a discrepancy in financial records.

Court records did not list an attorney for Lorann.
