The Hooters restaurant in Fort Wayne closed Monday, apparently without advance warning, and The Journal Gazette got a response, of sorts, from the company on Thursday.
"We would like to confirm that due to circumstances beyond our control, this location was closed," an email from the company sent Thursday said. No further information or details were offered.
The restaurant and bar at 920 Coliseum Blvd. E., was empty Monday afternoon.
The front door was locked and a handwritten sign was posted that said, "We Are Closed! Thank You Fort Wayne."
The international chain bills itself as "delightfully tacky yet unrefined," and is perhaps more famous for its scantily clad waitresses than its chicken wings.
The restaurant's website included a Memorial Day promotion of 10 free wings to anyone with proof of military service or a military identification.
Telephone calls made to the Fort Wayne franchise were not answered, and today's email from the company was in response to several emails sent to the company's corporate headquarters in Atlanta.
