I swear there's something in the water down there in Ossian.
First you've got Norwell hoops star Jessica Rupright, Indiana's Miss Basketball. Then you've got Norwell football star Chandler Harnish, who mulched the Northern Illinois and MAC record books and goes to camp fighting for a backup quarterback job with the Colts.
Now there's Jarrod Parker, a high-school buddy of Harnish's at Norwell.
All he did last night was nearly no-hit one of the best teams in baseball in only his ninth major-league appearance.
Seriously, one-hitting the Rangers? Striking out Josh Hamilton twice?
Now that's some strong stuff. So is this: In seven of his eight starts, he's allowed two runs or fewer and has a 2.40 ERA. And people are actually talking about his fantasy value now.
You know you've made it big when that starts to happen. Just sayin'.
