TinCaps pay for mistakes against Whitecaps

The mistake-prone TinCaps dropped their second straight road game to the West Michigan Whitecaps 11-2 on Thursday at Comstock Park, Mich.

The TinCaps outhit the Whitecaps 11-9 but committed four errors.

Fort Wayne fell to 27-33, while West Michigan improved to 30-30.

The TinCaps got a run in the third inning on a solo home run by Kyle Gaedele and another in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Austin Hedges.

Hedges, Yeison Asencio and Duanel Jones each had two hits for the TinCaps.

Adys Portillo (4-3) took the loss for Fort Wayne after giving up five runs, only one earned, in one inning of work. Portillo’s ERA is now 1.78.
