Jets facing tough task

The Adams Central softball team has its work cut for it in the Class 2A state championship game Saturday at Ben Davis.

The Jets (20-12) will face No. 1 and defending 2A state champion South Putnam (30-0) in the title game.

And the Eagles come complete with ace pitcher, senior Brooke Boetjer. The right-hander is 21-0 this year with a 0.11 ERA and was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year.

Boetjer is a tall, blond fireballer who has 159 strikeouts in 129 innings this season and beat Woodlan in the 2A title game last year by giving up only one run and six hits.

The Jets, who are in their first state title game, have one of the lowest team batting averages in the eight-team state finals field at .311.
