Police seek 3 in liquor-store shooting death

Police are looking for three people connected to the shooting death Friday inside a liquor store on the city's south side.

Christopher M. Mhoon, 27, was walking into the Cap n' Cork liquor store at 5727 S. Anthony Blvd. just before 9:30.p.m. Friday when he got into a fight with a man who was leaving the store, police said.

Mhoon and the man, who police are calling "person of interest number 1," continued fighting inside the store for less than 30 seconds, when two other men entered the store. One of the two men who came in after the fight started approached the fight and then backed off. Police are calling that man "person of interest number 2."

The third man, who was the last to enter the store, approached the fight and reportedly shot Mhoon multiple times. That individual is the primary suspect, according to Raquel Foster, police spokeswoman.

The three men, who were all wearing the same shirt, fled in the same vehicle, Foster said.

Mhoon, of Fort Wayne, was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m. at the liquor store the coroner's office previously said.

Police said Mhoon's young son was in a vehicle in the store's parking lot when the shooting happened. The boy was placed in the care of family, police said.

Mhoon's death is the 18th homicide in the Fort Wayne this year.
